MediPurpose's global master distribution infrastructure was established more than 10 years ago to support its own safety lancet product line.
Founded in 1999 in Singapore, MediPurpose launched its SurgiLance® safety lancet in the U.S. in 2000. By the end of 2002, MediPurpose had established a comprehensive network of major national and regional medical device distributors for all the healthcare segments in the United States—acute care, alternate care and long-term care.
In 2003, Frost and Sullivan awarded its 2003 Distribution Leadership Award to MediPurpose for the company's skillful development of key alliances with medical device distributors and group purchasing organizations throughout the United States.
Success in the U.S. market led the company to expand globally. At the end of 2003, MediPurpose established an office in London. Once the company received its CE and ISO 9000 certifications, growth accelerated. MediPurpose signed a contract with the U.K.’s National Health Service in 2004.
MediPurpose also began contracting with other companies seeking a proven distribution network. Leveraging its existing relationships with distributors and GPOs, MediPurpose became a medical device master distributor. In 2005, ITC appointed MediPurpose as its semi-exclusive U.S. distributor for the Tenderfoot device.
In 2010, MediPurpose signed an exclusive agreement to distribute advanced wound care products from Egypt-based OEM Pharmaplast. The milestone agreement is the foundation for MediPurpose’s new Wound Care division and enables Pharmaplast to access an expanded market for its products within the Americas.
Today, MediPurpose is one of the top five leaders in the U.S. safety lancet market, and has sold more than 625 million safety lancets since its inception. With global distribution channels and solid GPO relationships, MediPurpose has the strength and experience to support worldwide distribution challenges for other medical device companies.
