NORCROSS, Ga., Jan. 23—SurgiLance, Inc., the Atlanta-based sales, marketing and distribution subsidiary of SurgiLance Pte Ltd, Singapore, today announced that it shipped 100 million safety lancets for calendar year 2005.
This milestone marks the first time in the company's history that that volume of the company's SurgiLance™ Safety Lancets has been shipped to U.S. customers in one 12-month period.
SurgiLance also maintained an exemplary rate of defectives, given the large volume of product that was manufactured and shipped in 2005. The average defective rate for 2005 was 0.2 percent, a significant improvement over the 0.8 percent average defective rate for 2004.
"Considering that we only shipped 10 million lancets in 2001, the company has grown to be an established player in the safety lancet market in only five years," commented SurgiLance Vice President of Sales and Marketing Alan Wells.
The company fully expects to exceed the 100 million units shipped during calendar year 2006.
Since the product was launched at HIDA in September 2000, the company has shipped a total of 335 million safety lancets as of the end of 2005—enough safety lancets to test the blood of every person in the United States.
