NORCROSS, Ga., June 7—Atlanta-based SurgiLance, Inc., announced today that a new safety lancet model has been added to its already extensive line of safety lancets.
The SurgiLance™ Yellow SLN 100 Safety Lancet is a 25 gauge, 1.00mm-depth lancet capable of delivering a blood flow of 5-10 µl for a single stick glucose test.
The SurgiLance™ Yellow SLN 100 is the ideal solution for children's hospitals, nurseries, extended care facilities, and pediatric clinics due to its smaller depth, 25-gauge needle which minimizes patient pain and discomfort, particularly for young children and elderly patients with thin skin.
"By broadening our product line to specifically target this specialty area of medicine, we are able to provide a safety lancet solution that meets the needs of many different healthcare providers, including WIC clinics, infection control nurses, point-of-care (POC) managers and laboratory/phlembotomy managers," said SurgiLance Vice President of Sales and Marketing Randy Prather. "Since the SurgiLance™ Yellow SLN 100 is pre-armed for quick usage, it provides optimum safety for both patient and clinician, while gaining efficiency due to the improved, high-speed delivery system."
With this new product, SurgiLance intends to capture a larger portion of the estimated $8.5 million pediatric market that demands a smaller lancet for glucose toe sticks in the neonatal ICU labor and delivery area, as well as from the growing diabetic self-testing market that now features testing meters that use a smaller sampling of blood.
