GESSATE, Italy and NORCROSS, Ga., Feb. 21—SurgiLance™, the designer and manufacturer of the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet, recently announced GIMA S.p.A. as its next medical product distributor within the European Union (EU). GIMA will be distributing the One-Step Safety Lancet throughout Italy.
The distribution partnership will be the first for SurgiLance and the One-Step Safety Lancet within the country of Italy.
The new supply agreement between SurgiLance and GIMA is the latest development in the expansion of medical product business across the European continent. In 2004, SurgiLance developed partnerships with distributors in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Eastern Europe. Further expansion across the European continent is expected in 2005.

GIMA was established in 1926 as a manufacturer of metal and glass syringes. Today, GIMA manufactures and distributes more than 2000 medical products.
GIMA offers a 153-page catalog that shows more than 2,500 medical products, including their own brands as well as new medical device innovations and cutting-edge medical equipment.
This release was published prior to MediPurpose™ changing its name from its prior company name—SurgiLance—in 2006.
