NORCROSS, Ga., April 15—SurgiLance™, the designer and manufacturer of the One-Step Safety Lancet, has announced its first distributor within the European Union (EU) for its One-Step Safety Lancet.

Diagnostica Diatest GmbH of Switzerland has begun product distribution within Switzerland, securing a strong first foothold for the One-Step within the EU safety lancet market.

Diagnostica Diatest GmbH has been distributing healthcare products for more than 15 years in Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe for such well-known companies as Swelab, Cholestech, Baker and Vedalab.

In looking for a quality lancet to complement their existing product range, Diagnostica was impressed by the One-Step's ease of use and safety.

"We are very happy to have Diagnostica as our distributor because they are such a pro-active company that gets out there into the market and actively promotes and sells," said SurgiiLance European Vice President Stephen Yi. "We are confident that Diagnostica's enthusiasm for the product will firmly establish the One-Step as the preferred safety lancet in Switzerland," said SurgiLance's Vice President for Europe Stephen Yi.

This distribution channel in Switzerland is the early result of activities that began in late 2003 with the launch of the One-Step at the Medica 2003 tradeshow in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the opening of SurgiLance's London office as the headquarters for SurgiLance in Europe.

At the beginning of 2004, SurgiLance signed a logistics agreement with Frans Mass, a global leader in freight forwarding and warehousing. In February 2004, SurgiLance obtained the European manufacturing endorsement called the CE Mark for its line of safety lancets.
