LOGATEC, Slovenia, and NORCROSS, Ga., July 28—SurgiLance™, the manufacturer of the One-Step Safety Lancet, has announced the name of its first medical product distributor within Eastern Europe for its One-Step Safety Lancet.
Dr. Gorkič Ltd., distributors of diagnostic and therapeutic testing products, will be distributing the One-Step Safety Lancet throughout Eastern Europe as part of its diagnostic kits that require a small blood sample.
Dr. Gorkič Ltd. was founded in 1992 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Since 1997, the company has been situated in Logatec, Slovenia. The mission of Dr. Gorkič Ltd. within the market is to provide new and innovative medical products for decentralized diagnostics.
"We were searching for a quality lancet to complement our hematology product range and would combine excellent quality and good price," said Barbara Silič of Dr. Gorkič. "At the MEDICA fair in Düsseldorf in November 2003, we found the One-Step, which met all our requirements and customers' needs. The simplicity and safety of these lancets positively surprised our customers."
The SurgiLance/Gorkič teaming is an ideal match for the furtherance of unique methods of diagnostics and blood sampling. "The mission and philosophy of Dr. Gorkič is one which SurgiLance shares and we are therefore very happy to team up with Dr. Gorkič for the furtherance of unique methods of diagnostics and blood sampling," said Stephen Yi of SurgiLance.
Dr. Gorkič Ltd. currently distributes for medical manufacturers such as Orion Diagnostica, Quidel Corporation., DiaSys, Vedalab, 77 Elektronika, Cholestech Corporation and Melet Schloesing Lab.
The agreement with Dr. Gorkič Ltd. is the latest event in a steady growth trend for SurgiLance in Europe that began at the start of 2004 when SurgiLance obtained the European manufacturing endorsement called the CE Mark and the One-Step was officially made available to the EU market.
In April 2004, SurgiLance signed their first medical product distribution agreement with Diagnostica Diatest GmbH of Switzerland and was awarded a three-year contract with the United Kingdom's National Health Service Purchasing and Supply Agency (NHS PASA).
In May 2004, SurgiLance penned a medical product distribution agreement with Reto-Med of Holland.
