RIO DE JANEIRO and NORCROSS, Ga., March 12—In the latest of a series of aggressive global medical product distribution pacts, SurgiLance has signed an agreement with Chase Enterprises to be the distributor of the One-Step Safety Lancet in Brazil.
Firmly established in the South American region, Chase Enterprises is a major distributor of medical equipment, which includes Home Diagnostics' PRESTIGE LX, a glucose monitor for patients with diabetes.
With two main operating centers—one in California and the other in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—Chase Enterprises has the expertise, resources and networks required to spearhead the penetration of the innovative One-Step Safety Lancet into the South American market.
"A good product needs a good distributor," said Chase Enterprises CEO Luiz Costa." This agreement will benefit both SurgiLance and Chase Enterprises because of a general shift in market demand towards easy and safe to use medical devices.
"The One-Step Safety Lancet, which is designed for single use, will prevent contamination due to the reuse of needle devices. This major benefit would attract strong interest for the product, and with our experience and knowledge, the SurgiLance One-Step will be a big hit in this part of the world."
Emphasizing the importance of the agreement, SurgiLance, Inc. COO Hugh Cooper said, "This venture with Chase Enterprises adds impetus to our goal of bringing simple, safe and user-friendly medical devices to the world. Being our first South American distributor, this is a strategic move with mutual benefits."
