DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., and NORCROSS, Ga., June 13—SurgiLance, Inc. and Independent Medical Co-Op, Inc. (IMCO) announced today their agreement allowing all of its 113 members to distribute the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet in North America.

IMCOEstablished in 1981, IMCO currently represents 113 members with more than $1 billion in annual sales. With 132 locations, IMCO members distribute medical and surgical supplies and equipment throughout the North American region.

In the past 20 years, IMCO has kept pace with the growing demand for quality products and prompt service. One of the reasons IMCO has performed exceptionally well over the past years is because of its strong belief in choosing the right partners in their business activities.

IMCO's Chief Operating Officer Bill McLaughlin said, "Our focus has always been to continue to be the most productive co-op in the industry, providing value for members and vendors alike. The signing of this agreement with SurgiLance to distribute its One-Step Safety Lancet will bring mutual benefits to the medical staff served by IMCO members as well as to SurgiLance.

"We have great confidence in the One-Step Safety Lancet because it is a safe and easy-to-use product which has thus far attracted tremendous market interest worldwide."

SurgiLance's Chief Operating Officer Hugh Cooper said, "One of IMCO's members started test-marketing of our One-Step Safety Lancet soon after its introduction at HIDA in September 2000. Their success with the product prompted them to introduce it to the rest of the IMCO co-operative.

We are confident that the SurgiLance One-Step Safety Lancet will do well with the expertise of IMCO which is an aggressive marketer with a reputation of selecting only quality manufacturers and products."

SurgiLance, a company that designs, manufactures and sells safety medical devices, recently launched its One-Step safety lancet whose innovative design protects healthcare professionals from needlestick injury. Its unique one-step activation mechanism makes it extremely simple to use. It is available with either a needle or blade, each with different depths of penetration, to provide optimal blood flow for various applications and skin types.
