MediPurpose® News: 2000 Headlines

NORCROSS, Ga., and MUNDELEIN, Ill., April 20—SurgiLance™, a Singapore medical device company, has signed-up another distributor, Medline Industries, to market the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet in the United States.

Medline will start selling the product from the third quarter of 2000.

Medline Product Manager Mark Alip commented,  "When we were evaluating alternative safety lancets, we found the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet to be clearly superior to all the competing products currently available in the market.

"Based on the feedback that we have received, we are confident that our customers will want this new safety lancet for its ease of use and very safe design."

The need to minimize the risk of contracting deadly diseases like AIDS, hepatitis B and hepatitis C through needlestick injuries has led to the adoption of safety legislation in some states in America. This helps to protect healthcare workers, as they are the most vulnerable to needlestick injuries. As more states adopt similar safety legislation, the safety lancet market in America looks set to grow.

"We make it our aim to help create a safer environment for healthcare workers," said SurgiLance President Patrick Yi. "We are pleased to sign-up Medline as our distributor and look forward to working with them to make our products available to the healthcare industry."
