NORCROSS, Ga., and BOTHELL, Wash., July 3—SurgilLance™, a Singapore medical device company, has signed MediQuest as its first Asian medical product distributor.
The SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet was officially launched at Medtrade West in Las Vegas last May. Many visitors commented on the product's unique triggering mechanism, which makes it extremely simple and safe to use.
The SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for sale in the United States.
A statement from MediQuest said, "Improving quality of life, mobility and mortality has always been our motto since the day we started MediQuest. Our choice of products has always been along that line, and the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet is an excellent match for our product line.
"Healthcare workers are faced daily with the prospect of contracting diseases from tainted blood from infected patients as a result of accidental needlestick injuries. The SurgiLance™ safety lancet has a unique feature which offers protection to the healthcare workers against injury when drawing blood samples from patients. In addition, its user-friendly One-Step feature enhances the efficiency of the healthcare workers."
SurgiLance President Patrick Yi commented, "We have received enquiries from all over the world regarding our One-Step Safety Lancet. Healthcare workers are increasingly asking for safer needle devices, such as our safety lancet. We are therefore pleased to make available our product to Asia—and in particular, our home country, Singapore.
"MediQuest is supported by a group of very experienced people who have been in the pharmaceutical industry for many years. We are pleased to work with them to introduce our One-Step Safety Lancet to healthcare workers in Asia."
SurgiLance was established in January 1999. It is a privately held company specializing in the manufacturing and sale of safety medical devices.
The Surgilance™ One-Step Safety Lancet is the first product to be launched by the company. The product is available with either a blade or needle with different depths of penetration.
