NORCROSS, Ga., and CLARKSDALE, Miss., Nov. 17—SurgiLance, a Singapore medical device company, has signed up yet another medical product distributor in the United States, Infolab Inc., to market the revolutionary One-Step Safety Lancet in the United States.

Infolab, Inc., with its years of experience and distribution centers in the southeastern United States, will make the safety lancet available in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida, along with Texas.

2000 U.S. Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act

The new medical product distribution relationship is a timely one, said MediPurpose.  The agreement was reached within days after recent the ratification of the 2000 U.S. Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act,  which President Bill Clinton signed on November 6. The bill ensures more widespread use of safer medical devices to prevent dangerous needlesticks.

"To help our customers comply with this legislation calling for safer needle devices, we evaluated several new products with safety features and found the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet not only safe, but also unique," said Eric Shaw, sales manager of InfoLab, Inc.'s Chattanooga, Tennessee branch. "With its revolutionary One-Step design, the safety lancet is very simple to use for healthcare workers."

SurgiLance President Patrick Yi said, "As more healthcare establishments in the United States review their compliance with the new legislation, demand for safety medical devices—such as the SurgiLance™ One-Step Safety Lancet—will increase. We are pleased to be working with InfoLab with its years of experience and distribution network to meet the needs of the industry."
